This year is the forty year anniversary of the Sydney Lesbian and Gay Mardi Gras. To celebrate, we are launching an exciting new short story opportunity for all our writers.

And we do mean short! Submitted stories must be 40 words or less. Stories can be happy or sad, funny or serious, action-packed or mood pieces. As long as they relate to the theme (as well as the LGBTIQ experience) you have a chance of winning first prize of $200. Which, when you think about it, is $5 per word!

Drum roll please. The theme for the first Miniature competition is….

Interpret it any way you like. Or even just incorporate the word Forty into your story. But do your best because for this competition there is only one entry per person.

Entry is FREE, opens on Tuesday 23rd January and closes at midnight on Thursday 15th February.  Competition rules and entry form are on our competition page here

The winner will be announced on Facebook on Wednesday 28th February

Miniature has been made possible thanks to the generosity of our friends at the Aurora Group
